Monday, May 28, 2018
18:30-21:30
Off-Site: State & Main

*This event is sold out*

The two-part Speed Networking Evening will provide graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with the opportunity to learn about various career paths and the skills required for each, practice their high-level communication skills through speed networking, and expand their professional networks during a relaxed mixer with representatives from chemistry-related organizations.

Part 1: Speed Networking (18:30-20:30)

Attendees will be organized into groups of 4 and seated with an industry, government or academic representative (host) for 10 minutes. Each host will begin by speaking for three minutes about their company/team, the role of chemistry in it, and the key skills that they use in their role or value in their personnel. Each student will then be given one minute to outline their interests, current expertise, and the skills they wish to develop. After 10 minutes, a bell will ring and each group will move to the next host table. Each attendee will see 10-12 hosts over the course of the evening.

Part 2: Mixer (20:30-21:30)

Attendees and hosts will have the opportunity to continue their discussions and to network over a casual drink. An excellent opportunity to expand your professional network and to network with future colleagues in the chemical sciences. Appetizers and 1 drink ticket per person will be provided.
